I am a mixed-media conceptual artist from Long Beach, California.
Much of my work explores elements of nature - both as subject matter and as mediums of application. My interest in continuously re-examining similar subjects through a number of methodologies lies not so much in mimicking these renditions exactly as they appear, but to find meditations that might reveal something more—a glimmer of fantasy, a caricatured portrait, or a swift burst of animation.
My adjacent interest in digital media constantly has me questioning what it means to look and interact with nature through the lens of an increasingly technologized reality we find ourselves in today. On the one hand, the seemingly all-encompassing vastness of the natural world makes it feel infinite and overwhelming; yet in another respect—as a resource, our relationship to it becomes not only precious but even spiritual. Nature thus condenses and stretches itself into the infinite and minuscule—a building block that informs our very identity and experience as human species.
It is this basic contradiction between the infinite and the finite that I hope to continue exploring and mitigating through my art practice.
